Lilac Burmese Cat in trouble.?

Hi my name is Eric, about 2 months or so ago my cat Stuey, was starting to lose his balance, then he started going really skinny in his lowerback/back legs. He then got to a point where he could not walk/support himself. His mobility was 0. I had to carry him everywhere. So i took him to the vet the vet and they had no clue what so-ever. so they gave him a pain killer injection, and some pain killer drops for him aswell, he got better, slighlty anyway. i mean he was running around, jumping on lounge. But when i got home today, he was sitting on the floor. And i called him, and he just meowed at me. so i picked him up and tried to stand him up. He just fell, so ive taken him to the vet. and he said that he thinks its a spine/neurological problem. and that the best bet is to put him down, i do not want to do this. im willing to try anything. please respond with any ideas/past expirences.

Kind Regards,

Eric.

Lilac Burmese Cat in trouble.?
It sounds like he may have injured his back in the past and has disk material pressing on his spine.

A cure is now unlikely due to the length of time since the injury, but if you don%26#039;t want to put the cat down, consider a mobility trolley. I%26#039;m sure you%26#039;ve seen them, they support the animal%26#039;s back end and two wheels replace the hind legs, with the legs suspended in slings. Both cats and dogs do very well in them once they adjust.
Reply:I would get a second opinion from another vet. The vet you%26#039;ve seen sounds pretty hopeless from what you say. There may be nothing that can be done, but you could do with seeing a vet who is a bit more proactive in trying to find a diagnosis.
Reply:unfortunately it sounds like exactly what your vet says. you could try the little kitty wheelchair but that is a bit more practical in dogs. realize that he may (if he hasnt already) lose control of his bodily functions and start using the bathroom on himself and that means everywhere in your home. it wouldnt hurt to get another opinion but i doubt you will hear anything really all that different. i%26#039;m sorry to have to be so discouraging but i would want someone to be as honest with me. i am so sorry you have to go through this and i hope a second opinion helps you out
Reply:I would absolutely go to a specialist, is their a vet university near you? Check the phone book etc. But if you can%26#039;t find one find another vet for a second opinion your vet just covered up the problem and didn%26#039;t agressively do anything. Bad Vet!! It does sound like a never problem. I know a few people who have had that with their cats and acupunture helped them when nothing else could. YOu might consider that if it comes to %26quot; nothing we can do%26quot; I know the pet trollies would very well from what I have read.

Are their any other symptoms, eating lots and lots of food and still losing weight, drinking tons of water and peeing to flood the litter box? If so it could be diabetes and neuropathy. Did your vet check for diabetes? If it turns out that is it contact me and I will help you and show you a great group for dads and moms of diabetic cats and help with the neuropathy also. That is Methyl B 12 that you can find in health food stores. With him being so bad give him 9 mg a day. Anything the cat can not use will go out in urine. A B12 pill or shot is not the same. It must be METHYL B12.

You could begin that now as it is not only for diabetic cats with neuropathy. It helps all kinds of neuropathy.

Let me know what happens. I just feel that there is something that can help. Do go to a different vet now. Cyber hugs to your boy.
